Die Moldau – der goldene Fluss

The Šumava is the birthplace of the Vltava River. Its bed is dark yellow, like heavy gold. The golden river has inspired poets, architects and composers.
But again and again it has flooded its shores. That is why people tamed it with a unique cascade of reservoirs and dams. And yet a unique environment has been preserved on its banks. Lynx and wolf are as much a part of the Vltava River as the speckled ground squirrel or the penduline tit.
